An encounter with a little 'man'.
As a young boy Mr. QG remembers his father telling him this story several times.
This event happened in the early fifties.
His father was a squirrel hunter and always kept his guns very clean and in good shape.
His father also kept his ammunition clean. He was a responsible hunter.
One day he went to a grove of hickory trees near the Grand river in northern Ohio.
He sat down and proceeded to watch and wait, being very attentive.
At one point he heard a sound behind him and so looked to see what had caused the sound.
Expecting a deer or other animal had approached him, he was quite shocked to see
a small man with big eyes and a silver suit. He became very afraid and stood up to face the little man.
As his fear was intense, he raised his rifle and aimed at the little man,
but though he was trying to pull the trigger, he was unable to file the gun.
Expecting that he had a bad round, he ejected it and put a new cartridge in place.
He was again unable to pull the trigger to make the gun fire.
At this point he turned and ran as fast as he was able to.
When he arrived home he went behind the barn and fired the gun.
This was the second round which he had been unable to fire earlier.
He fired several other shots, being convinced that his clean gun was entirely operational
and that the gun and ammunition were not the reason that the gun would not fire
in the presence of the little man.
Mr. QG's Father was convinced that the little 'man was from outer space.
Mr QG said that his father related this tale several times
and that the story was always exactly the same.
